Fat Guy On A Little Bike

It started as a joke until I saw the picture.

I really had become a Fat Guy on a Little Bike.

It is time to shrink and find a healthy balance in life.

This journey is for me, my family...

Go Caps!

Two and a half hours of walking around the Catoctin Zoo with the kids. A fun way to get the steps in. Wolves were cool to see, but the Meerkats were a hit.

Just finished a bike ride. 15.6 miles at 16 mph average. Felt great to ride in the awesome weather, partly cloudy and 70 degrees.

It has been a good week with three runs and a ride.

Not happy with this week or the week before. I can do better.  I am beginning to think about signing up for a 10K and got a Couch to 10K plan to help.  The FitBit adjustment under exercise is running on the treadmill.  I add my exercise to my FitBit logs and the calories are sent to LoseIt where I track my calories.

I like both, but I lean toward the Fitbit.  You also can’t argue with their support.  I have had one go bad and they sent me an new one free.  I also broke one in a bike crash and they replaced it at a significant discount.  Either way it is cool stuff for the fitness tech geek.

I have been trying to limit the sugar in my diet this year as a way to loose weight, but I am constantly finding additional reasons to keep the sugar low. More interesting findings.

Weekly Summary #??, Kept the calories fairly well in check, but the weight went up. No weigh in week for me this week as my scale was lent out to a friend. Already going through weigh in withdrawal. I know most people don’t believe that you should weigh yourself daily, but I am a believer that it keeps me in check. Even with the occasional disappointing weights, I still like to check it daily. I have found that when I don’t, I stray too far too fast, so this week will be a challenge.

Burned off some stress yesterday the best way I know, cycling.

Running Intervals, I am enjoying the breaks during intervals and find that I am nearly sprinting during the runs. Did a 5 min warm-up and cool-down with 1 minute runs at 6.5 mph separated by 2 minute walks at 3.1mph.

No walk today, had to work ahead for a day off from work tomorrow. Not a fun day and likely very stressful, so hopefully I can end the day with another run.

Heart rate graph from my treadmill run.  Figured out that I can still use the HR monitor on my Garmin even when I am not using the GPS.  Cool.
